Examples For Some Literary Terms

Apostrophe: My dead grandmother spoke to me last night in my sleep.
Irony: The good news is, your husband has died.
Metonymy: A person should drink five water bottles a day.
Paradox: 'I ran slowly' said the olympic runner.
Personification: The computer is running slow.
Synecdoche: He ate the chicken.
Tautology: The snow blizzard covered the ground with snow.
Understatement: The elephant is pretty large.
